Sherry Quilts
A personal blog used as a journal of my quilting life and projects. Can be viewed by anyone interested, although it will be pretty boring. I will share the link with "quilting friends" so they can view my progress and finished projects.

Twilters
I am part of a quilters group on Facebook called Twilters. These blocks are part of a block exchange. We all made 20 blocks and received 20. These are the ones that I made. I have not made my blocks into a quilt yet.

a Twister for my niece
My niece had admired a quilt similar to this and I had been wanting to make her a quilt. So I got some nice flannels, including Timber Trails in layer cake and charm squares. It was my first Teister and it was fun. I backed it with Minkee to make it soft and cuddly.

And Now My Treasure
In 2014 thequiltshow.com offered a free Block of the Month pattern. Each month for a year, part of the pattern was posted online. I ordered the fabric kit and kept up with each months pattern. In early 2015 I finished the borders and had the top complete. Each block is a letter of the alphabet with a pieced or appliquéd design. The appliqués, including the letters are finished with a double blanket stitch. Finally, the quilt was masterfully custom quilted by Jeanne Lowe from Camp Hill. Jeanne quilted each part of the quilt to enhance the design and blend with the motif. To me it is a masterpiece.
Bing, our new nephew.
Mary's nephew and wife in Washington recently adopted a sweet little boy from China. Xavier, or Bing, is 18 months old and is happily settled here in the US with his brother and sister. I made this little quilt for Bing with his name on it.
A Challenge
Our Quilt Guild past-president announced a Challenge for this year to make a quilt with 13 blocks. I had seen the new book called Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt. I loved the blocks in this book and each could be made in either a 6" or 12" size. So I decided to make a center 12" block surrounded by 12 6" blocks. I quilted it myself and I really love the outcome. When the challenge was presented at the meeting, my quilt was voted Best Workmanship. How nice.
Summer 2015 - Some little projects and medium one.
In May/June I made a tote bag to donate to an auction for my great-niece who was injured in March in a car accident. I also made two more Name pillows for two great-grands (nephew and niece). I have enjoyed making these pillows and I have a few more to make.
