Christmas Stockings

I bought these stocking panels a while back and decided to quickly sew them. With a little quilting, they are very cute.

Myah's Baby Quilt

This is a little quilt that I made for a new little sweetheart in our family, Myah.

Busy, busy, busy

I have finally started sewing after slowing down for a while. I get so excited when I'm sewing something interesting, and can't wait to see the final product. I made another Chubby Charmer bag, two cute 'cow' travel pillows for a couple of cute little girls that I know. At quilt guild in September, we were given a pack of Dimples flannel charm squares by Gail Kessler. I used them to make stars and pinwheels and incorporated them with flannel scraps into the two quilts show. One is definitely going to charily and the other may go to my niece. It feels good to use up some scraps.

Two Finishes

I have finished two long ongoing projects. The first is a wool applique table runner. The kit was a gift for Christmas 2010. I really love it and I cut out all the applique pieces soon after I got the kit. But I put it away, and it wasn't until about a month ago, that I put it on my "to finish" list. I think it is really pretty. The second is my Fat Quarter Shop 2011 Mystery Block of the Month. I got the first block in June of 2011 and the final one in May of 2012. The finishing kit, which made all the blocks into flowers, was such a nice surprise. The fabric is Moda Strawberry Fields by Fig Tree Quilts. The pattern was designed by Joanna Figueroa. I love the soft colors. I really enjoy the block of the month. You just get a little pack of fabric and the pattern and I can finish it in an afternoon. It is not overwhelming, as it would be if you had the entire pattern and yards of fabric to cut into. I did not join the 2012 Mystery Block of the Month, but I will do it again in the future.

Pat Sloan Workshop

In May, I went to a workshop with Pat Sloan. This is the class project which I finished recently. The sample was folk art colors of golds and red, but I used my usual bright colors. It was a LOT of machine applique, especially the little berries.

More Little Wallhangings

Here are a few more of the little wallhangings that I've been making for my sister at the nursing home. I really enjoy making them.

Sewing, but not posting

I have not dropped off the face of the earth, and I've not even stopped sewing and quilting. I've just been lax at posting to the blog. I've also been working on multiple projects and now just completing them. I made a tote bag to donate to a charity project. At then end of May, I took a workshop with Pat Sloan. I purchased her Chelsea's Flower Garden wall hanging and made it for my friend for her birthday. It is pictured here. I am working on the workshop project and I should be able to post a finished picture of it here in a few days. I am rather tired of machine applique after these two projects, but they turned out pretty well. I especially like the one here with the purple coneflowers.

Carlie's Butterfly Quilt

I finally got a big finish. This is a quilt for my great-niece, Carlie for her 11th birthday. It was made from a kit. The pattern was in Quilt Magazine. The fabric is Blossoming by Kathy Davis for Free Spirit, and the Pattern was called Social Butterflies. It was made with fusible applique, machine finished. It fits a twin size bed. The quilt was quilted in a large meander by Laurel Cook. Finished in March 2012.
